Dylan Gee, PhD

Dr. Gee presents “Early Experiences and Brain Development: Translating Science to Optimize Mental Health Interventions” as part of the Child Mind Institute Visiting Professor Lecture Series.

Dr. Dylan Gee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University, where she directs the Clinical Affective Neuroscience and Development Laboratory. Dr. Gee received her bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, and completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Weill Cornell.

Her lab’s work focuses on neurodevelopmental mechanisms of early-life stress and risk for psychiatric disorders in childhood and adolescence. Dr. Gee also serves as a Principal Investigator at the Yale site of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study.

Her research is currently funded by the NIH, NSF, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, Jacobs Foundation, and American Psychological Association. She has received broad recognition for her work, including the Janet Taylor Spence Award for Transformative Early Career Contributions from the Association of Psychological Science, the American Psychological Association’s Early Career Award for Outstanding Contributions to Children, Youth, and Families, and the APA Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contributions to Psychology.

At Yale, she has received the Greer Prize and the Poorvu Prize, the University’s highest awards to junior faculty for research and teaching, respectively. This year she was honored with Yale’s Graduate Mentor Award, the University’s principal award for graduate education. Dr. Gee frequently gives talks to parents and educators, and her lab’s work has had a notable impact on public policy related to child development and mental health.
